Diablo 3 Season 28 and Diablo 4 Review

Season 28 of Diablo 3 just ended and I wanted to write about my time this season.  I had a fairly good season but most of the time was spent playing Diablo 4.  I will first discuss what I did in Diablo 3 before I write about Diablo 4.  Season 28 was very fun to play and it introduced a new concept for Diablo 3.  The Altar of Rites was a new thing that gave everyone extra power for the season.  I managed to do greater rift 142 on my Witch Doctor and that put at rank 22 in the hardcore NA leaderboard.  I had my best season ever of reaching my highest paragon level for the season at paragon 1851.  My overall paragon level is now at 3308.  I managed to play about 110 hours for the season.  While this was about the same for the other seasons, the season was much longer than others but most of the time spent this season was playing Diablo 4.

I decided to play the Witch Doctor again this season and focused on my Arachyr set. I did fairly good at the beginning but by the middle of the season, I was doing really good.  I had a real nice gear set, alot of my gear was primal.  I picked up a primal Spider Queen's Grasp early on and I also managed to find a primal Shukrani's Triumph, a primal Compass Rose, a primal Brood of Aranae, and a primal Traveller's Pledge.  I also crafted a primal Ring of Emptiness.  I also did augments of +625 int to most of my gear but if I had more time I would have done more.  I think for season 29 I will be doing the same but I think the power level of my character will be much weaker since season 29 will have a paragon cap of 800.

As for Diablo 4, I think it is a pretty good game but overall it is much slower and a lot less interesting than Diablo 3.  I first wanted to try hardcore mode in Diablo 4 but my Sorcerer was killed at like level 68 due to a game crash.  I managed to make a Druid this time in the eternal mode.  I hit about level 70 for my Druid but the levelling took so long.  We are currently in Season 1 of Diablo 4 and I am currently levelling my Rogue, which is at level 77.  I have spent a decent amount of time playing Diablo 4 but I certainly don't enjoy it as much as Diablo 3.  I think the main problems of Diablo 4 is that the gameplay is much slower, the levelling grind is super boring, and there aren't enough things to do in Diablo 4 that feels exciting.  I think that the campaign and the renown system is fairly cool to do in the beginning but it doesn't mean anything at all later on.  The cinematics in Diablo 4 is super cool to watch but I don't think many people are willing to run the campaign many times over.  The gearing system is kind of neat but after a while it doesn't make the playing the game fun a whole lot.  After hitting about level 50, you are basically running the same dungeons and maybe doing the odd helltide event.  I wish Diablo 4 had more systems that encourage you to do different tasks.  Also, with the monster scaling to your own player level, you don't often feel stronger when you level up.  I would recommend playing Diablo 4 for the campaign and the cinematics but unless you enjoy endlessly grinding levels, I don't recommend this game for anyone else.

Season 29 for Diablo 3 is going to start soon and I very excited for it.  This season, as I mentioned before, will have a paragon cap of 800 and there will also be a solo self found mode.  This season will also have Visions of Enmity, which are portals that you can take to get extra gear.  I will be playing my favourite class, the Witch Doctor, again.  I hope everyone enjoyed playing Season 28 and Diablo 4.  I want to write more on this blog but I am having trouble finding time to write about other things.

Diablo 3 Season 27 Review

Woah it has been a long time since I updated this blog.  Today I will be covering my Diablo 3 Season 27.  This season was very long and I had a very good season overall.  I managed to do a greater rift 133, which put me in rank 14 of the hardcore Witch Doctor NA leaderboard.  This is my highest ranking ever in a Diablo 3 season.  I was able to play 118 hours or so for the season.  I managed to hit paragon level 1558 for the season and my overall paragon level is at 3103.  Although I played off and on this season, I was able to reach all of my goals.  During the season, I was able to participate in the Diablo IV end game beta which was really, really cool.  I hope I can do a review of Diablo IV sometime in the future because the game is coming out later this year.  For now, I will just write about what I did for Diablo 3.

This season of Diablo 3 was really fun to play with.  I mainly focused on the Witch Doctor and I was able to get most of my gear to where I wanted it be.  My end game build was the Arachyr set, which I managed to hit the greater rift 133.  This season introduced the sanctified items which made one of your items add a new legendary power while also making that item into a primal one.  Although the sanctified power for the Arachyr was just ok, I still enjoyed using that power.  I was mostly running quick and easy greater rifts with the Arachyr set and farming regular rifts and bounties with the Mundunugu set.  I used the sanctified power on my Ring of Emptiness and I also managed to find a primal Depth Diggers.  I was really pushing hard at the end of season and I barely managed to finish the greater rift 133 on the very last day of the season.  I was content to do a greater rift 130 but I ended up doing more than I could imagine.  A few other items that I was lucky to find were a primal The Barber (good for the Mundunugu set) and a very good Physical Traveller's Pledge amulet.  I managed to augment most of my gear to level 125.  I think I could have done even better if I had played Diablo 3 continuously for the entire season but I am very happy that I did so well even still.

Season 28 is starting pretty soon for Diablo 3 and it will probably be the last season before Diablo IV starts.  I will be playing with the Witch Doctor again for this season although it will probably one of the weaker and less played class in season 28.  I am hoping to finish strong in Diablo 3 and be ready for Diablo IV when that game comes out.  There are things in Diablo IV that have me worried a bit from what I have played during the beta.  I hope that Diablo IV is just as fun and simulating as Diablo 3 and I really look forward to playing a lot Diablo in the future.  I really want to write a review of Juno Reactor and what has been happening since I last wrote about them but that will be a little later I think.  I hope everyone had a good season 27 and I hope everyone has fun playing Diablo 3 season 28 soon.

Diablo 3 Season 26 and Diablo Immortal Review

Well Diablo 3 Season 26 just ended and I played some of it.  About half way through the season, I started playing Diablo Immortal which came out on the PC and on mobile.  Even though I only played 87 hours this season of Diablo 3, I did manage to do pretty well.  I was able to do a greater rift 122, which put me in rank 28 in the NA hardcore Witch Doctor leaderboard.  I managed to hit paragon 1187 this season and my overall paragon level is now at 2966.  I did all my seasonal objectives and I also was able to augment most of my gear.  I think I could have reached a higher greater rift if I had continued to play Diablo 3 for the entire season.  I was mostly playing with the Arachyr and the Mundunugu set this season.  I was pushing greater rifts with the  Arachyr set and doing quick normal rifts with the Mundunugu set.  The starter set for the Witch Doctor was the Jade set and I really hate playing with this set in the beginning. I had one bad death early on the season but I did manage to recover and do pretty well after that death.  The new system introduced in Season 26 was the Echoing Nightmare and I am thankful that this is continuing on in non-season Diablo 3.  Echoing Nightmare allows you to get a Whisper of Atonement, which can be used to augment your gear.  The Whisper of Atonement has a level cap of 125 and I managed to augment most of my gear with it.

For Diablo Immortal, I played with the Necromancer and it is pretty fun to play with.  I didn't have much high expectations for this game because it is designed to be played on a mobile device.  I enjoyed the levelling up process but some of the level caps were somewhat annoying to deal with.  Once I hit the level cap and start the paragon level grind, it became a pretty easy routine to continue playing.  I haven't really put much money into the game so my combat level is pretty low compared to others.  What I really like about Diablo Immortal is that there a overall paragon level cap for the server so that players who are under it (players like me) gain extra experience points which allows them to catch up to the server paragon level cap.  There are unique timed events that happen in Diablo Immortal.  I would like to participate in those timed events but unfortunately most of the time I miss them.  I think the most frustrating thing about Diablo Immortal is the legendary gem system.  The legendary gems are really hard to get if you don't pay any money and are necessary because it boosts your combat level.  I think Diablo 4 would do really well if they focus on things that are good in Diablo Immortal.  I think people who want to try a new game should try Diablo Immortal but I wouldn't worry trying to be the best at it.  I think Diablo Immortal is a fun game that focuses a lot on the action role-playing but some of its mmo aspects kind of falls short.

Diablo 3 Season 27 is starting soon and I am excited about playing this season.  Season 27 is introducing new Sanctified Items which will greatly power your character.  I will be playing with the Witch Doctor again this season but I don't know how much more powerful they will be this season.  Hopefully I can reach about greater rift 125 this season.  I don't know if I will keep playing Diablo Immortal or not but I will probably log in every day just to do some daily tasks.  That is it for now but I want to do update on the Juno Reactor stuff because I haven't written about them for a long, long time.  I hope everyone had fun playing Diablo 3 Season 26 and Diablo Immortal and I wish everyone good luck in Season 27.

Diablo 3 Season 25 Review

Diablo 3 Season 25 is now over and I had a really good season.  Season 25 was a very long season and I probably had my strongest character ever due to the soul shards introduced this season.  I was mostly pushing with my Witch Doctor, playing with the new improved Arachyr set.  Although I didn't play as much as I wanted, I still managed to place really high in the leaderboards.  With the Arachyr set, I did a greater rift 134, which put me at rank 48 on the hardcore NA Witch Doctor leaderboard.  My paragon level for this season was 1468, which is my highest paragon level in a season.  My overall paragon level now sits at 2909.  I finished the seasonal journey as well this season.

Season 25 started out a bit rough because the starter set for the Witch Doctor was the Jade set, which is my least favourite Witch Doctor set.  I mostly wanted to play with the new improved Arachyr set because I wanted to try something else beside the Mundunugu set.  The Arachyr set is really good for greater rifts but it wasn't as good as the Mundunugu's for just regular rifts and bounty mats farming.  I did try to push a little bit with the other Witch Doctor sets.  I did a greater rift 120 for the Mundunugu set (rank 25), a greater rift 107 for the Zunimassa set (rank 23), a greater rift 100 for the Helltooth set (rank 34), a greater rift 47 for the Jade set (rank 463) and a greater rift 45 for the no piece set (rank 590). I think I could have done better with the Jade and the no piece set but I didn't feel like playing those sets.  I did play with the Demon Hunter for a little bit to help me finish with the seasonal journey.

My overall thoughts for this season were that I really had fun playing with Arachyr set and the soul shard system.  I am really happy that I managed to get top 50 in the leaderboards.  For season 26, there is a new Nightmare system, which looks pretty painful for hardcore players.  I will probably play with the Witch Doctor again for season 26 but I don't think I will be pushing as hard as previous seasons.  I hope everyone had a good season 25 and I look forward to play season 26 on April 15th.  I also want to due more blogs for Juno Reactor because there is a lot of new stuff about them recently.  So please stay tuned.

My new overall seasonal review now looks like this:

Diablo 3 Season 24 Review

Diablo 3 Season 24 is now over and it has been a long time since I made new blog so it meant that season 24 was a very long season.  Overall, I am very pleased at what I accomplished this season.  Season 24 introduced a new weapon item called Ethereals and it made all builds more powerful.  I managed to do greater rift of 123, which put me at rank 26 for NA hardcore Witch Doctor.  My seasonal paragon level hit 1413, which was my highest seasonal paragon ever.  My overall paragon is at 2779 now.  There were 3 Ethereal items to collect for each class and if you collected all 21 Ethereal items, you unlocked the achievement which gave you the transmog for the items.  Since I really wanted to get this achievement, I played all 7 classes this season.  I mostly played the Witch Doctor (with 98 hours), but did manage to do pretty well with the other classes.  I hit the leaderboard with the Crusader (rank 940 at greater rift 85) and the Necro (rank 626 at greater rift 80).  I also managed to do greater rift 86 for the Barb, 90 for the DH, 92 for the Monk, and 91 for the Wizard.  I am really happy that I managed to hit the Ethereal achievement and do a very good greater rift for the Witch Doctor.

My first Ethereal that I found really suited my Witch Doctor.  I was going to play the Mundunugu's Spirit Barrage build and so I was really surprised that I was able to find a good Ethereal right away.  I believe that I was only paragon 10 or so when I found my first Ethereal.  Interesting enough, the first Ethereal that I found was the best one that I did find so I ended up using it for the entire season.  Playing all the classes was a bit difficult since I normally don't play other classes.  It was a refreshing way to play the season though.  In the end, I was really pushing hard on my Witch Doctor.  I managed to augment all my gear again, so this helped me to push a bit more.  I didn't play towards the end of the season because Diablo 2 Resurrected came out and I wanted to try that game and I also I was getting a little bit burned out by playing Diablo 3 a lot.

Diablo 2 Resurrected was a good experience for me to try again.  I had played Diablo 2 in the past and I haven't played that game for very long time.  Normally I played Diablo 2 in off-line mode so playing Diablo 2 Resurrected through Battle.net was a kind of a different experience.  I played with the Paladin a lot when I first started playing Diablo 2 but the game has changed so much since I finished playing Diablo 2. There were new builds to try in Diablo 2 Resurrected for me.  I ended up playing with the Paladin again in D2R focusing on the Blessed Hammer build.  It was pretty easy to play and I managed to finish Hell difficulty in softcore mode.  I did find some cool items like the Herald of Zakarum, which was a shield I always wanted to find in Diablo 2.  I haven't done any of the end game modes or much farming after finishing hell difficulty but I did have a good time playing Diablo 2 again.

Season 25 is starting on December 10th and I am excited for this new season.  I will probably play a different Witch Doctor build for this season.  The Arachyr set got some buffs and might try this build.  Another build that I might try is Zunimassa's but that build tends to be less tanky, which means that it is not good for hardcore.  Season 25 will introduce new legendary gems that can be put in your helm or weapon sockets.  I am looking forward to try these new gems and hopefully end up on the top 100 hardcore Witch Doctor leaderboard.  I hope everyone had a good season 24 and I wish everyone a good time in season 25.
